file-attrib - File Attributes

SYNOPSIS

file-attrib

DESCRIPTION

file-attrib enables the attributes of the current buffers file to be modified. The information is presented in a OSD dialog box as follows:-

Buffer:

The name of the buffer and file name.

Type:

The type of file based on the CR/LF content:-

Unix - LF line endings only.
Windows - CR+LF line endings only.
Dos - CR+LF line feed endings; Ctrl-Z file end marker.

Selecting a different O/S type modifies the buffer modes, the next file write operation changes the buffer type to be consistent with the selected O/S type.

Attributes

The attributes of the file on the filing system, (de)selecting the flags changes the file attributes on the next write operation. Note that not all file attributes are supported on all file system types, those that are not supported are ignored.

Save Changes

Causes the changes to be applied immediately and the file is written to the file system with the new attributes.

Exits the dialog. If the file attributes have been modified and the changes have not been saved then the buffer is marked as changed and the attributes are written the next time that the file is saved.

NOTES

file-attrib is a macro implemented in fattrib.emf.

file-attrib may be selected from the menu line File->Attributes.
